David Naito has taught at Alfred University after earning his degree in Sculpture-Dimensional Studies. His work is inspired by the simplicity of forms and their relation to the human body. Blown glass and found objects are juxtaposed in ways to draw attention to wear and tear, preciousness, and layers of information. Naito uses glass to express these ideas; he describes it as a material with superb transparency that can reveal and distort subjects in a surreal way.
