David Phillips has been involved in creating public and private commissions in a career spanning more than 30 years. Although his background is solidly based in crafting stone and metal, his materials palette has grown to encompass cast glass and landscape materials such as plants, water, paving, and light. In both site-specific installations and individualized studio works, Phillips' aim is to utilize elements of nature as a springboard for conceptual manipulations. He has completed projects throughout the United States, Japan, and South America.  Some of his outdoor local projects can be seen at Quincy Square in Cambridge, at Porter Square Station, the Quadrangle at University place near MIT, and Seaport Park in South Boston.
