Nancy Selvage explores significance in the convergence of actual,
suggested, and symbolic content. Investigative tools include
perforated sheet metal, photography, mirrored surfaces, paint, light,
clay, and glass. She works in response to the character and context
of an actual or constructed site, with the goal of enhancing
awareness, transforming experience, and discovering visual, spatial,
and kineasthetic means of expression.
Her installations have been recognized and supported by various
grants and awards including a Massachusetts Artists Foundation
Sculpture Fellowship and two Massachusetts Arts Council New Works
Commissions. Public commissions include projects for the Grand Canyon
National Park Service, Keene State College Science Building, and the
Cambridge Arts Council.
Selvage is program director and instructor at the Ceramics Program of
the Office for the Arts at Harvard University and has taught at
Massachusetts College of Art, Ewha University in Seoul, School of the
Museum of Fine Arts, and Rhode Island School of Design.
