“Internal Blooming is a new series of work from early 2021 that oscillates between the skeletal architecture of bone and the petal soft terrain of flesh. I have been incorporating porcelain and plaster forms inside nylon sheaths to create tension within boundaries. The rigid structures of fired clay provide a framework for soft materials to both drape and cling to. The dance between what is internal and external is provoked by the pulse of growth beneath the surface of membranes. This work dovetails with performance pieces in development where the human body moves through space and time among forms that are simultaneously cellular, and geologic. “
